Farmer Leader – Rakesh Tikait offer supporting to protesting wrestlers on 30th May. India’s top wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik & Bajrang Punia were about to throw their medals in the holy river – Ganga. Then the farmer leader Rakesh Tikait visited the wrestlers and offered them his support on Tuesday.

Since April 23rd, the wrestlers engaged in an ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar.

They are demanding action against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, chief of India’s wrestling body and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. 

The wrestlers have accused Singh of sexually harassing seven women wrestlers, one of whom is a minor. Through their persistent sit-in demonstration, they aim to raise awareness about these allegations. They also advocate for appropriate measures consider against Singh.

Recently, an image is viral on all social media.

Dhruv Rathee shared the picture which specifies that IT Cell Trolls have started using AI software to defame Wrestlers Protest.

If you closely look at this picture then you will notice that AI-generated perfect teeth. Fraudsters also generated wrestlers’ fake dimples to make them real. 

Anyone who noticed this image on social media found it surprising!!

People have started giving their own opinions even considering all the previous pictures to defend their thoughts.

Unfortunately, thanks to AI software, which is contributing to the spread of the false image of wrestlers protest everywhere. 

So, What is the Reason for the Wrestlers’ Protest?

The wrestler’s protest started on 23rd April, demanding the arrest of their federation chief, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, for allegedly harassing female athletes. As per the wrestlers, Mr. Singh, 66, harassed at least seven young women, one of whom was a minor, over the course of a decade, starting in 2012.

Which Wrestlers Are Involved in Protest?

To protest against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, India’s top wrestlers are protesting. They are Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik & Bajrang Punia with over 700 other wrestlers.

What is the Progress in this Case?

• Clearly, the wrestlers are striving to draw attention to the alleged misconduct and highlight the need for accountability within the wrestling community.

• Brijbhushan dismissed the allegations & said in the media that he is even “ready to be hanged” if even a single female wrestler proved the sexual harassment charge against him.

• The Delhi Police registered two FIRs, one under the stringent POCSO Act and another concerning outraging the modesty of a woman, against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

• Following their unsuccessful attempts to persuade the Delhi Police to apprehend Singh on April 21, the wrestlers turned to the Supreme Court for intervention and assistance. 

Recognizing the need for external intervention, they sought the involvement of the highest judicial authority to address their concerns and ensure that justice is served.

• Seven national and international medallists, including a minor, alleged sexual harassment by Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

• CJI DY Chandrachud admitted that “there are serious allegations contained in the petition at the behest of wrestlers who have represented India about sexual harassment. Issue notice, returnable on Friday.”

• On one hand, where wrestlers received support from Olympic gold medallists – Chopra, and Bindra, on the other hand, PT Usha slammed the wrestlers heavily, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President stated that the grapplers protesting on the streets amounts to indiscipline and tarnishing India’s image.

• Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is accused in this case told PTI that: “Friends, the day I will review my life, what I have achieved and what I have lost, and the day I will feel that my capacity to struggle has ended, the day I will feel I am helpless, I am weak, I would not like to live such kind of life and would rather like to embrace death.”

• The Sports Minister also stated that “until then, a committee will carry out the day-to-day work of the federation”.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court has dismissed the women wrestler’s plea alleging sexual harassment. The SC stated that the petition has been served as Delhi Police registered an FIR against WFI President. The aggrieved parties can approach the trial court or the High Court for redressal.

How AI Software Have Become the Topic of Discussion in this Protest?

One of hottest hot takes right now – AI photo editing is going to be very bad for photographers and re-touchers. This has become the topic of discussion when the AI-edited image shared on social media. Where the wrestlers are sitting in a bus & smiling with shining teeth.

Where the image is totally false & spreading the wrong message. Whoever edited the image, using AI, look real so that anyone could not make a difference.

No doubt, AI has simplified our work but yeah it has also increased our tension too. It has been effectively used in business to automate tasks done by humans i.e. customer service, lead generation, & fraud.
