The Indian Meteorological Department reported a rainfall measurement of 153 millimeters (6 inches) in New Delhi on Sunday, marking the capital’s most significant July rainfall since 1982.

• The Indian Meteorological Department reported a rainfall measurement of 153 millimeters (6 inches) in New Delhi on Sunday, marking the capital’s most significant July rainfall since 1982.
• Continuing rainfall for the third consecutive day caused extensive flooding in various parts of Punjab. In response, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has instructed all gurdwaras under its management to offer assistance to the affected individuals.
• SGPC President H.S. Dhami has directed gurdwaras to provide ‘langar’ (community kitchen) services and accommodation, if required, to those affected by the floods. The districts of Mohali, Rupnagar, Patiala, and SBS Nagar have been particularly hard-hit. Dhami emphasized that medical aid and clothing would also be made available as needed.
• Volunteers were spotted in Rupnagar and other affected areas, navigating through flooded roads in residential neighborhoods using tractors. They distributed food packets, drinking water, and other essential items to individuals who were stranded in their homes. In Derabassi, a residential society in Mohali district, where water breached one of the outer walls and entered the compound, volunteers assisted in evacuating the residents.
• As the water level in the Ghaggar River surged 6 feet above the danger mark of 746.2 feet, flooding three villages, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann embarked on a visit to his home district.
• This marks the first instance of the water level exceeding the 754-foot mark in Sangrur district, prompting the chief minister to oversee relief and rescue operations.
• District executive engineer Gursharan Virk stated that even during the 1993 floods, the water had not breached this level. The overflowing river has resulted in the inundation of fields and villages in the vicinity.

Different Parts of Chandigarh:-

• The city witnessed another day of relentless rainfall, causing significant destruction to public infrastructure. In Dadu Majra, the boundary wall surrounding a garbage dump collapsed, leading to the flooding of nearby residential areas with leachate. Harjinder Singh, the President of the Dadu Majra Colony Residents Welfare Association, reported that houses or Chandigarh Flood Situation were affected as leachate and chemicals entered them. Furthermore, the roads were obstructed by water contaminated with chemicals, exacerbating the situation.
• Widespread waterlogging was observed throughout the city, affecting villages such as Khudda Lahora, Dhanas, Burail, and Hallo Majra. Ram Chander Yadav, the councillor of Dhanas, reported that the area experienced a lack of electricity and water supply for approximately 20 hours. Rainwater seeped into houses, and the road drains were completely clogged, exacerbating the situation.
• Residents residing in Sector 40-C, particularly in the LIG housing area, expressed their distress as rainwater seeped into a majority of the houses, posing difficulties in draining the muddy water. MS Rawat, Chairman of LIG EWS in Sector 40-C, voiced concerns about the flood-like situation and expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of response from the Municipal Corporation’s flood-control wing helpline.
• Similar reports of water ingress were received from Sector 33-B. Furthermore, government houses in Sector 22 and 23 experienced roof leaks. The road leading to Kaimbwala had to be closed due to waterlogging, and the Dadu Majra-Maloya stretch leading to Togan in Mohali was also closed due to an overflowed rivulet. Additionally, the underbridge in Sector 11-15 or Chandigarh Flood Situation was blocked.
• Several sections of roads experienced cave-ins at various locations, including Vigyan Path, the road that separates Sector 47 and 48, Sector 44-51 road, Sector 14-15 road, near a petrol pump in Sector 20, the parking lot of Japanese Garden, the area adjacent to MCM DAV College in Sector 36, and near the Sector 31/32/46/47 chowk.
• Multiple incidents of trees falling were reported in various locations. These incidents occurred near the Sector 33/34/44/45 chowk, along the road connecting Industrial Area, Phase II, and Ram Darbar, close to 3BRD, in the vicinity of PGI Chowk, on the road dividing Sector 19 and 7, at the Sector 28 market, in front of the Bird Park road, and at the parking lot of Lake Club.
